Tips
- Light indoor clothes should be clothes that also work on the trail. With two tops you have one for walking and the other for use inside the cabin. Rinse or wash wool base layers and socks as needed when you reach the cabin — that way the clothes have time to dry by the next day.
- A thin windproof jacket is more comfortable than rainwear when it is only blowing without rain.
- Consider a light sleeping mat and an emergency bivvy in aluminium for extra safety on longer day trips.
- GPS is a supplement, not a replacement for map and compass. Charge the phone before the trip and save the battery — large parts of the mountains have no coverage.
- A hi-vis vest is useful in emergencies and on the road.
