A multi-tool such as a Leatherman and similar can be handy on a trip. It gives you plenty of options for repairing and fixing equipment along the way.
Such tools typically have, as a minimum, a knife, scissors, pliers (combined wire cutters and gripping pliers), a tin opener and a screwdriver. Some have a good deal more than this.
The more tools that are built in, the heavier the implement becomes. Consider what you will actually use it for — and how much weight you are willing to carry.
