Mountain Boots
Stiff boots that come a little above the ankle — they give good support without becoming too heavy. The most common walking boot for a mountain hike.
Mountain boots are typically relatively stiff boots that come a little above the ankle. They are high enough to give good support, but low enough to keep the weight down. They are the most popular walking boot, and the type with by far the widest range to choose from.
The advantage is low weight. But the lower shaft makes them more prone to taking in water when crossing a stream or when pumping. Mountain boots are a good choice for trips with a lot of ascent and a medium-sized pack. They work less well in areas with a lot of vegetation, where twigs and brushwood easily get into the boot.
