Find out what to wear based on temperature, wind, activity level and precipitation. The layering principle in practice.

Dressing correctly is about regulating the heat your body produces. Too much clothing makes you sweat, too little leaves you chilled. Both are unfavourable. This calculator helps you find the right clothing for the conditions.

What should you wear?

Set the temperature, wind and activity level to get recommendations based on the layering principle.

The layering principle

  1. Base layer — moves moisture away from the skin (wool or synthetic)
  2. Mid layer — insulates and retains warmth (fleece, wool, down)
  3. Outer layer — protects against wind and precipitation (windproof jacket, rain jacket)

Remember: clothing does not create heat, it retains the heat your body produces.
