  2. List, in note form, what it is wise to think about when dressing to be outdoors.

    1. Work in groups and dress one member of the group according to the layering principle. Show and explain the principles to another group.
  4. What material (fibre) should outdoor clothing be made of, and why?
  5. Which clothes are absolutely essential to bring/wear in the mountains on a trip lasting several days?
    1. Pack a rucksack in groups for different trips (day trip, overnight trip to a cabin, winter tent trip and so on). Show the other groups how you have thought it through and give reasons for your choice of clothing.
  6. Where do we get cold most easily, and why?
  7. What is especially important to think about in winter when it comes to clothing?
  8. Which properties are important for outerwear?
  9. In what ways does heat loss from the body occur?
  10. How do we dress in the winter mountains to avoid heat loss? Explain the different layers of clothing.
  11. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of different clothing materials.

Explore (at home)

  1. Weigh a fleece jumper, a wool jumper and a cotton jumper. Put them in water and gently wring out a little of the water before weighing the garments again. What was the result? What can this tell us about the properties of the garments?
