Gas stove
The simplest and quickest stove. Best for the summer half of the year — it works less well in the cold, and the gas canisters must be carried out empty.
Gas stoves are the simplest and quickest to use. You screw the gas canister onto the stove, light it, and regulate the flame with the valve. The drawback is that they work less well in the cold — best for the summer half of the year.
There are two types:
- Top-mounted sit on the gas canister itself — compact and light, but prone to tipping over.
- Ground-mounted stand steadily on the surface — heavier and take up more room, but safer.
As long as it is not too many degrees below freezing, gas works very well. Winter gas can burn at down to around −20 °C, but the output of the flame is considerably poorer than petrol when it is that cold. Another drawback is the empty gas canisters that you have to carry out with you.
