Practical tasks
- Check your equipment before a trip. Go through the tent and other equipment and check that everything is in order.
- Check the tent fabric and poles, and that there are enough pegs for the tent. Check that the tent fabric and inner tent match.
- Check that there are no holes in the tarp or tarpaulin.
- Check that the hammock is intact and that suspension straps are included.
- Go through the stormkjøkken and burner. Check that it is clean and works. Check that there is a pot gripper with the pot set.
- Practise pitching a tent. Kill two birds with one stone and pitch the tent while you check your equipment. That way you both get to practise putting up the tent and check that everything is in order.
- Go for a walk in your local area and look for good campsites. Remember what the friluftsloven says about distance to dwellings.
