Look around – are there recent avalanches in the area?

Recent avalanches are always a sign of avalanche danger. Nature can hardly give a clearer sign that there is a risk of avalanches. Take the hint, stay away from avalanche terrain.

Recent avalanches triggered by a small/large additional load (a skier) mean that you, too, can trigger an avalanche. Consider carefully where it is best to go, or head somewhere else if it is difficult to avoid avalanche terrain.
