Fresh snow (loose-snow avalanche) - If the snow falls without wind and it is mild (0° to -4°), we get a loose-snow avalanche. The avalanche starts at a point and widens as it travels downhill. It takes a teardrop shape.
Fresh snow (slab avalanche) - Wind or high temperatures (0° to -4°) cause the fresh snow to form a slab. Fresh-snow slabs are often easy to release.
