Tags: Aquatic plant Description: Bladderwort has slender shoots and thread-like leaves that float freely in the water. The plant therefore has no roots. Since it has no roots and can draw nutrients up from the soil, it must obtain nutrients in another way. Bladderwort is a carnivorous plant that catches small animals in tiny bladders. When an animal comes near the bladder, a small âdoorâ opens and the animal is sucked inside, after which the âdoorâ quickly closes again. Bladderwort is found mostly in nutrient-poor waters.
