Glacier/snowfield
Glaciers are pure white on the map. We cannot travel on a glacier without a rope and glacier skills. Small white patches mean snowfields that lie all year round.
Map symbol explanation: glaciers are pure white on the map. We cannot travel on a glacier without a rope and glacier skills. Small white patches mean snowfields that lie all year round. The contour lines have also changed colour to blue to show the difference in elevation. Dense blue lines mean an icefall. Here it can be very difficult to get through, even with an ice axe and crampons.
