There are often streams in the bogs — or the bog may itself be an open waterway. Tall wellingtons, or mountain boots plus gaiters, are practical on a long bog march.
Bog is also an important carbon store and a habitat for birds and plant layers — walk on the path where you can, to avoid trampling damage.
