Practical exercises
- Carry out simple maintenance of a tent.
- Check that the poles are intact.
- Replace the shock cord if the shock cord holding the poles together is slack.
- Check that there are no knots in the guy lines. If they have knots, untie them.
- Coil up and tie off one guy line at a time, so that they do not tangle with each other.
- Check the tent for tears.
- Check that zips, storm flaps and guy lines are intact and undamaged.
- Check that the pegs are intact. Straighten bent pegs and add more pegs if there are too few.
- Bring boot dubbin to school and waterproof your own footwear.
- Arrange a sewing evening.
- Repair outdoor clothing that has got tears and damage.
- Go through the stoves and check that everything works.
- Check that the stove burns cleanly and that the flame can be regulated.
- NB! This is done outdoors.
