Tags: Flowers Description: There are 27 species of lady’s mantle in Norway, and they can be very hard to tell apart. Most of the species have round leaves with toothed lobes and many small green flowers that sit together in clusters. Many of the lady’s mantle species are found in meadows, while a few species are found in the mountains. The scientific name of the genus is Alchemilla, which refers to the fact that the alchemists of the Middle Ages collected water droplets from lady’s mantle leaves to put in the crucible when they tried to make gold. Use: You can use the young leaves in salad. They contain a fair amount of tannins and taste slightly bitter. Lady’s mantle can be brewed as a tea and can reduce menstrual pain in women.
