Common orange lichen can also grow on trees and is often found on the south side of aspen trunks. It is common throughout the country up to the tree line. Common orange lichen is orange-yellow and tends to grow in rosettes. In the old days it was called gulsottlav because it was believed that yellow plants could cure jaundice.
