Bog bilberry

Tags: Berries Description: Bog bilberry looks a little like bilberry, and the berries are also edible and good. The leaves of bog bilberry do not have the small fine teeth along the edge that bilberry has, and they are matt and greyish-green on the underside. The stems of bog bilberry are brown and wood-coloured, not green as in bilberry. If you open the berry up, it is not blue inside, but more white. That is also why bog bilberry does not turn your mouth blue when you eat it.

Also called: Skinntryte, mikkelsbær, bjønnebær Use: Bog bilberry usually does not taste as much as bilberry, but is still very good. They are rich in vitamin C. Habitat type: Mountains Edible: Yes Written by: Lærke Stewart
