Sewing evening
It is also possible to hold a sewing evening with the pupils as part of the friluftsliv subject. Then you can repair tents and other school gear that needs repair and maintenance, in addition to fixing your own gear. And perhaps you can try sewing yourself a pair of overboots (fotposer) for the winter trip?
Suggested maintenance tasks:
- Carry out simple maintenance of the tent.
- Check that the poles are intact.
- Replace the elastic if the shock cord holding the poles together is slack.
- Check that there are no knots in the guy lines. If they have knots, untie them.
- Coil up and tie off each guy line one by one, so that they do not tangle with one another.
- Check the tent for tears.
- Check that the zips, storm flaps and guy lines are intact and undamaged.
- Check that the pegs are intact. Straighten bent pegs and add more pegs if there are too few.
- Bring boot wax to school and impregnate your own boots.
- Arrange a sewing evening.
- Repair outdoor clothing that has got tears and damage.
- Go through the stoves and check that everything works.
- Check that the stove burns cleanly and that the flame can be regulated.
