Preparation

  • 48 hours before the exam starts: the pupil is informed of the exam subject
  • A subject teacher is available for questions
  • 24 hours before the exam starts: the pupil draws a question
    • The question is in line with the curriculum aims in friluftsliv, and the relevant competence aims linked to it are made known to the pupil
    • The pupil is made aware of the assessment criteria for the subject
    • All aids are permitted during the preparation time
    • The pupil’s subject teacher is present for guidance from 9 to 12 by arrangement
    • Pupils may collaborate during the preparation time, but the examination is individual
    • Documentation, notes and the like produced during the preparation time may be brought to the exam, but are not part of the basis for assessment

The exam

  • The examiner is the pupil’s subject teacher
  • The oral exam lasts up to 30 minutes
  • The first part of the exam takes the question and the competence aims from the preparation part as its starting point
  • The conversation around the question forms the basis for the further examination
    • Questions are put about the question the pupil has been given, but also within other parts of the curriculum that are relevant to the question
  • In the second part of the exam, the pupil is presented with various stations, such as map and compass, where the pupil gets to show and explain knowledge linked to the competence aims in the subject
  • The purpose is for the pupil to be able to show their breadth in the subject
  • The assessor has the opportunity to put questions to the pupil

Assessment:

  • The pupil is assessed on the basis of the competence shown in the exam
    • The pupil is assessed according to the competence aims attached to the question
  • The competence the pupil shows in other parts of the curriculum, which is relevant to the topic, is assessed
  • The pupil receives a grade after the examination, before the next pupil is examined.
    • The pupil is to receive a justification for the grade.
  • Assessment criteria
    • Locally prepared specifications of the competence aims are to be used

Competence aims after friluftsliv 1

The aim of the training is for the pupil to be able to

  • explore and carry out activities and tours in the local area in the different seasons
  • plan, carry out and reflect on tours with several overnight stays in different natural environments and in the different seasons
  • assess and prepare food that is suitable on friluftsliv tours
  • understand the importance of, and use, suitable clothing in different types of friluftsliv
  • use, maintain and look after equipment and tools in a suitable way
  • use first aid and life-saving skills in connection with friluftsliv
  • carry out safe travel and practise a friluftsliv that takes account of nature
  • describe and understand what can create good nature experiences
  • collaborate in order to contribute to fellowship, social experiences and mastery
  • reflect on what significance friluftsliv can have for the individual.

Competence aims after friluftsliv 2

The aim of the training is for the pupil to be able to

  • plan and carry out activities and tours in the local area independently and together with others
  • plan, carry out and assess tours with several overnight stays in different natural environments and in the different seasons
  • understand the importance of a suitable diet on tours and explore the possibilities nature gives us as a food source
  • understand common weather signs and warnings that nature gives, and take account of these
  • use equipment and tools in a sustainable way
  • apply first aid and life-saving skills in connection with the friluftsliv the pupil practises
  • practise and reflect on sustainable travel in nature
  • reflect on how new outdoor activities are helping to change traditional friluftsliv
  • plan, carry out and assess activities and tours as a guide for a group
  • carry out and assess friluftsliv tours in which a sense of mastery, nature experiences and fellowship are central
  • assess possible health benefits of friluftsliv.

Exam questions

Conduct of the exam

First we talk about the tour you have planned. You will be asked questions by the teacher based on the planned tour and will visit practical stations where you get to show and explain relevant competence aims. These can be competence aims linked to diet and food, clothing, orienteering, first aid or sustainable travel in nature.

Finally, the assessor has the opportunity to put questions.

Questions for friluftsliv 1

Question 1 - Winter mountains

Plan a tour in the winter mountains with at least two overnight stays, for a group of six people. You are to sleep in tents and do a summit ski tour (topptur). You choose the timing and route yourself and are to focus on wellbeing and safety on a tour in the winter mountains.

Take relevant competence aims as your starting point and show and explain the planning of the tour.

Remember to bring a map to the exam.

Question 2 - Surfing trip in a water environment

Plan a surfing trip to one of the beaches on Jæren, for a group of six people. You are to sleep in tents, surf and do beach cleaning. Show that safety is looked after and say something about why you choose to clear up litter.

Take relevant competence aims as your starting point and show and explain the planning of the tour.

Questions for friluftsliv 2

Question 1 - Local mountain hike

Plan a weekend tour (Friday to Sunday) in Sandnes or Gjesdal, where you are to lead a group of six people. You are to sleep outdoors and have planned to do a mountain hike and to top-rope climb at a climbing crag near the camp. Plan a dinner that is cooked over a campfire (bål). You are to focus on wellbeing and safety on the tour.

Question 2 - Canoe trip in a water environment

You are to plan a tour with three friends. You are to go on a canoe trip by a body of water with two overnight stays outdoors. On the tour you are to gather various plants in nature and prepare food from them. You choose the timing and route yourself and are to focus on wellbeing and safety on a tour in a water environment.
